What is the DX-3! The DX-3 is a Shortwave/Ham portable/fixed antenna system that can be used for listening or transmitting on. This system is the Same thing that is used on the DX-1 Antenna System , except that this one you can use inside, outside or as a sloper. Can be mounted to a Structure, building , mast, or Tower, Pole. This antenna is made for U.S.A. and overseas shipping. This model of antenna has the same qualitys as the DX-1 ( http://dx-1.s5.com ) except that it has no mast. It can be Shipped to all Countrys for less money than the DX-1. The DX-1 is too large (48" long) and cannot be shipped Via U.S.P.S. outside the US . The DX-3 is small enough for taking with you when you travel |

ANTENNA DESCRIPTION The DX-3 is a very simple Antenna to set up and operate. It can be set up in a very short time, and needs only one man operation. The DX-3 is small enough to be carried in a suitcase or small duffell bag. It can be used inside, outside as a permenant or portable operation. The DX-3 Antenna System has the following Parts: The COIL: The coil is 2 1/2" Tall, 2 13/16" In Diameter. Has 84 turnes. Each coil is 9"round. Take the9" x 84 turnes = 756 inches. Divide That by 12", comes out to 63 feet total coil surface. The coil is made by 2000 James Industries,P.O. box 407, Hollidaysburg, PA, 16648. Safty tested- Meets or exceeds ATSM F-963 Code. The coil is made of stainless steel . Has been tested and can handle over 500 Watts. The Antenna Coil holds up to Cold/Hot Weather, and winds over 75 mph, up here in Alaska.. The coil will not RUST! There is no Tuning or Adjusting is needed on the COIL! You USE a Antenna Tuner for That! On using the DX-3 for Shortwave Listenning, al you need is Coax cable and 2 , pl-259 male connectors on each end.. You don't Need a Antenna Tuner.Just hook up the Coax cable to the DX-3 Antenna and the other end to your Shortwave Radio, Providing on the type of antenna connection used. Some newer radios have a female plug for a miniture plug or a screw terminal. Others have a female SO-239 connector, so if all you have is a telescoping mast, then on the center connector of the coax, put a alligator clip on it and clip on the telescoping antenna.. SO-239 Coax conector This is mounted on the botton of the base plate and has # 12 gauge copper wire attached to it and the COIL. It is attached to the plate with 4 nuts and bolts. Very Rugged Mount. GROUND TERMINAL The grounding lug is able to take up to 14 gage wire. You use this when wanting to use a grounding radial, or counterpoise. You have to have a Antenna tuner attached to the coaxial cable to be able to use this feature for Transmitting on Amateur Radio,Goverment, Military, Mars, operations. For Shortwave Listening , don't have to use the ground lug ONLY if you want to. EYE BOLT The eye bolt is mounted thru the top plate and is double nuted for a secure fit. You can mount the DX-3 inside or outside with this mount. FREQUENCY RANGE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transmit: 3.5 mhz to 29.999 mhz (If used with a Antenna Tuner, Transmatch, Radial System, Counterpoise, Earth ground System) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECEIVING: .0001 KC TO 29.999MHZ This is a excelent antenna for receiving and transmitting on all Ham, Shortwave, Utilitys, Hf Aircraft, Volmet, HF Marine, Hf brodcasts in RTTY,CW,SSB, AM.FM. To TRANSMIT on the above metioned uses , you have to have a good Antenna Tuner or Transmatch, Ground Radial System ,a good Earth Ground or a Counterpoise System!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The DX-3 is very versatile Antenna system !
